1. Be Impeccable with your Word

Express only what you intend. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about other individuals. Utilize the capability of your word in the path of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally

Not a single thing other individuals do is because of you. What other people say and do is a reflection of their own reality, their own goal. When you are resistant to the criticisms and acts of others, you won't be the victim of unnecessary hurting.

3. Don't Make Assumptions

Get the courage to ask questions and to say what you really wish for. Speak with others as clearly as you can to keep away from misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. Implementing just this one agreement, it is possible to completely re-define your life.

4. Always Do Your Best

Your best will probably change from time to time; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to when you are unwell. In any situation, simply do your best, and you will steer clear of self-judgement, self-damage, and frustration.

We have out of years of habit not paid attention to how we express our self. The reactions that come out of our mouth are generally automatic. They were mastered from years of habit living in accordance with the agreements we learned. We tend not to consciously choose our words, or the emotion, tone, and mindset that we convey.

Through the years our mind has filled with values that yield ceaseless thinking. In all that contemplating we have many assumptions that we are not mindful of. We even create the assumption that what we believe is true. We imagine and presume what other folks think about us and how they will react. We also assume that the judgements and self criticisms we have are true. All of us have learned to generate plenty of assumptions that we aren't aware of. These assumptions are not the reality. These assumptions and the confidence we place in them is just one way that we are not flawless with our word.

Through our domestication we also have learned to take things personally. We assume that every time a person has an opinion about us that their opinion is correct. We find ourselves having an emotional response to what someone says as we assume it is true. We also can take personally our own comments. We also take personally our own self conclusions. These self generalizations are only an assumption. Over the years the mind has created many habits of generating assumptions and taking them personally.

As soon as you choose to change your life and utilize the Four Agreements you are challenging the beliefs you acquired and the habits you observed since your childhood domestication.

Embracing the Four Agreements creates a struggle in the mind between revealing your self Impeccably with love and your present fear based beliefs.
